The Play Equipment Project is ongoing and is under constant review as and when funds and or grants become available. This section lists the completed projects and projects under review.
2007 – 2009
The Play Equipment project was planned in 2007. A succesful bid to the Big Lottery Fund through Rushcliffe Borough Council allowed us to install approximately £28,000 worth of play equipment. This phase was completed in March 2009.
The Play Equipment Project documentation is available to download below.
A subsequent phase providing play equipment for toddlers was completed in 2010. The approximately £12,000 of expenditure was funded by Aslockton Parish Council, Whatton-in-the-Vale Parish Council and the Whatton and Aslockton Playing Field Trust.
In 2013 the Committee authorized the installation of a Nest Swing at a cost of £2,500. The purchase was funded by the Whatton and Aslockton Playing Field Trust. The installation was completed in March 2014.
The Committee are currently considering ‘adventure’ type equipment and are investigating installations at other sites in the County. At this stage the project is exploratory only as there are no funds available.
September 2014 – Provisional costings of the potential equipment discussed at Committee Meeting. The next stage is to identify the siting and number of pieces of equipment required and to establish the funding requirements.
The proposal to develop ‘Adventure’ type play equipment has been put ‘on hold’ pending a decision about the proposed new building. As the Adventure area would require the use of additional soil, it was thought that using the ‘spoil’ from the building project could be used.
The Topographical Survey undertaken as part of the Building Project will be used to identify potential sites for additional play equipment once funds become available.
