We are sure that you are now all aware of how Aslockton and Whatton-in-the-Vale are to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. Brief details of the event were given in the last edition of Aslockton Voice and Whatton Village News, but if you missed it a full programme of events will be delivered to each household in May.
Here is some more information from the Joint Diamond Jubilee Committee. Some of the details are still to be confirmed and should not be considered definitive until you get the actual programme.
However, one event that is definite is the IT’S A KNOCKOUT competition. Teams of four are required, mixed, or all male or female teams would all be suitable for the games to be played. For safety reasons members of the teams must be over sixteen. We are sure that the Cranmer Arms, the Tennis Club, the Thomas Cranmer Centre etc. will be there. Lots of interest has already been shown. If you are thinking of forming a team please telephone Graham Linney on 850348 for further details. We can only accommodate eight teams, so its first come first served, please telephone Graham before the 1st of May.
The children of Archbishop Cranmer School have been rehearsing their display, which includes sveral surprises!!!
All children attending the day will receive a Diamond Jubilee Medal to wear and keep as a memento of the day.
We are to have special guests to open and close the event. We are currently in discussions with other organisations including the Army Cadet Force. Further details of the proposed flying display will be included in the programme.
SEE YOU ON THE 4TH JUNE
